Rodney Sanders
Pair of runner-up finishes in Winter Meltdown at Vado
Friday night found Rodney Sanders in action at Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.) competing in the two-day USRA Winter Meltdown.
With a sixth-to-second run in his heat race placing him on the second row for the opener, Sanders inched forward one spot to register a second-place finish, trailing Carlos Ahumada Jr. across the line.
On Saturday, Rodney passed six cars in his heat to finish second, locking him into the second-starting position for the $3,000-to-win Winter Meltdown finale. Chasing race-long pacesetter Johnny Scott to the checkers in the 30-lapper, Sanders posted a runner-up finish aboard his Wichita Tank Racing No. 20 Modified. Jake Gallardo, Nathan Smith, and C.J. Hulsey completed the top-five finishers.
