Sanders picks up 4th-place finish during North Star Nationals
Rodney Sanders and his Keith Hammett Trucking & Construction No. 20 Modified team hit Mississippi Thunder Speedway over the weekend for the season finale of the USRA Northern Lights Modified Series. Sanders grabbed a top-five finish in the North Star Nationals opener on Friday.
A $2,000 first-place prize brought 34 USRA Modifieds to the 1/3-mile clay oval in Fountain City, Wisconsin, on Friday evening. Sanders qualified fourth in his group and grabbed the win in his heat race. He started third in the 30-lap A-Main and finished fourth behind Joe Chisholm, Jim Chisholm and Jacob Blees. Parker Hale rounded out the top five.
Another $2,000 was on the line on Saturday for the 34 USRA Modified competitors in attendance. Sanders qualified third in his group to start the evening. However, he went on to register a DNF in his heat and did not start his B-Main or the 30-lap feature.
In nine starts during the Northern Lights Modified Series inaugural season, Sanders finished eighth in the point standings.
