Rodney Sanders posts top-10 result on each night of Red, White & Blue Nationals
Three days of Summit USMTS racing at Pocola, Oklahoma’s Tri-State Speedway yielded three consecutive top-10 finishes for Rodney Sanders from Thursday through Saturday.
When the inaugural Red, White & Blue Nationals kicked off on Thursday at the 3/8-mile clay oval, Sanders was one of 36 USMTS Modified drivers in the pit area. On “Salute to the Heroes Night,” he drove his Sanitation Resources Inc. No. 20 ride to fifth in his heat race and was runner-up in his B-Main. He started 15th in the 30-lap, $3,000-to-win feature and climbed seven spots to finish eighth.
During Friday’s “Honor the Fallen Night,” Sanders steered from sixth to second in his heat and began the 40-lap, $5,000-to-win main event from the pole. He led the opening circuit and ultimately came home fifth behind Tanner Mullens, Jim Chisholm, Cade Dillard and Kyle Brown.
Thanks to his strong preliminary results, Sanders was locked into Saturday’s $20,000-to-win finale on “Never Forget Night.” He started fourth and registered a sixth-place result in the 50-lapper.
With the Red, White & Blue Nationals in the books, Sanders continues to lead the Summit USMTS National Championship standings.
