Tough outing for Sanders at Salina HIghbanks
Rodney Sanders traveled to Pryor Creek, Oklahoma, over the weekend to compete for the $100,000 top prize in the XR Dominator event at Salina Highbanks Speedway. However, he came up short of the feature in the XR One Nation Under Modifieds (ONUM)-sanctioned program.
On Friday, 66 Modifieds in the pit area at the 3/8-mile oval necessitated three qualifying groups. Sanders drove his Sanitation Resources Inc. No. 20 car to the 10th-quickest time in his group, starting him sixth in his heat race the following day.
He finished fifth in his heat and suffered a DNF with a 22nd-place result in the B-Main, relegating him to the Non-Qualifier Feature.
Sanders drove from 12th to third in the 20-lap Non-Qualifier race to end his Saturday before the 60-lap finale.
