Sanders nabs 6th in HMT run at Lakeside Speedway
With the Mod War 100 program at Heart O’ Texas Speedway near Waco canceled, Rodney Sanders elected to race with the USRA Heartland Modified Tour (HMT) in Kansas on Friday. The decision to compete at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City netted him his 54th top-10 finish of the season.
Sanders was one of 31 HMT entries at the 4/10-mile oval, where a $2,000 winner’s share was on offer. To begin his night, he qualified his ARMI Contractors No. 20 Modified with the 10th-quickest time in his group. He then advanced from fifth to third in his heat race, starting him 11th in the 30-lap feature.
He moved ahead five positions in the main event and finished sixth.
