Rodney Sanders Adds Two USMTS Wins at Tri-State Speedway
Six-Time Champion Banks $10,000 During Oklahoma Doubleheader
HAPPY, Tex. (April 21, 2026) — Rodney Sanders continued his dominance with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) over the weekend, sweeping Saturday’s doubleheader at Tri-State Speedway after wet weather condensed the Red White and Blue Nationals into a one-day program.
The six-time USMTS champion pocketed $10,000 with a pair of $5,000 victories, increasing his career tour win total to 129.
“I was waiting on Chisholm to make a mistake,” Sanders said in victory lane after Saturday’s mid-day victory. “That’s what it was going to take to get by him. When Jim is leading these mains, he’s tough to pass, and he doesn’t screw up often.”
Sanders’ weekend began Friday at the Pocola, Oklahoma oval, but Mother Nature halted the program midway through the night and forced officials to move the remainder of the event to Saturday.
Starting from the front row in the rescheduled feature, Sanders remained patient early before charging past race-long leader Jim Chisholm in the closing laps of the 30-lap main event to secure the victory.
Later Saturday evening, Sanders capped off the weekend sweep in the Red White and Blue Nationals finale. After storming from 10th-to-3rd in his heat race, the Happy, Texas native once again tracked down reigning USMTS champion Jim Chisholm late in the feature to collect his second victory of the day.
